5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

Have you thought about the chance that you might actually need a new wardrobe?

Well, Anne Klein was not joking when she said that clothes might not change the world, but the women who wear these clothes might.

Clothing is an integral part of our lives. Being dressed in good clothes is so much more than just vanity.

People spend months curating their wardrobe in order to create a closet full of clothing that reflects their personal style. Your clothes speak volumes about you and are a part of your personality.

People may underestimate the appeal of a good piece of clothing but what they do not know is that all it takes is one statement piece to make you go from drab to fab.

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

Your wardrobe may be your most prized possession but there comes a time in everyone’s life, when they need to let go of the old and embrace the new.

Saying goodbye to stuff that you may have spent thousands of dollars on is hard but you don’t want to be someone who is still walking around in clothing that is too small or too large for them.

5 Reasons You Need A New Wardrobe

1.Adjusting to the changes in your body

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

While all of us have different choices and tastes when it comes to clothes, the one thing that we all agree on is the importance of clothes that fit you well. Clothes that fit well can instantly transform your entire look.

A dress that may look phenomenal on a mannequin can look disastrous on you if you don’t have the right body type for it.

If you have recently undergone changes in your body, chances are that your old clothes are not going to fit you like they used to. Whether you have put on a few pounds or have lost some extra ones, you need new clothing to match your new shape.

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

The bodysuit with cutouts that looked smashing on you a year ago won’t look the same after you become a little plump.

Likewise, shorts that complemented every curve will look misplaced on your body after you lose the caboose that filled them out!

The point is, as your body goes through changes so should your wardrobe. That does not mean that you should empty out everything and start fresh. It just means either updating your clothing to your new measurements or getting pieces that look good even if your weight fluctuates.

    2.Keeping up with fashion trends

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

Do you have a lot of clothes in your wardrobe that is just there for sentimental value?

Are clothes from your teenage years still hoarding up space in your closet?

Do you still keep revisiting clothing that represents questionable fashion choices because the guilt of not wearing them drives you crazy?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then it’s time for a new wardrobe!

Vintage clothing is cute as long as not everything in your wardrobe looks like it comes from a different era. Outdated clothes make you look older and ruin your whole aesthetic.

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

There’s no shame in admitting that some old clothes can only make you feel nostalgic and not fashionable. It’s time to stop being a hoarder and get rid of old clothes that you are saving for “one day” or “when a certain fashion trend makes a comeback”.

You don’t have to chase every crazy fashion trend that comes along but you need to invest in at least some modern pieces of clothing that reflect current fashion choices.

    3.Never having anything to wear

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

Almost every girl claims to have nothing to wear even when our closets are full but if you’re complaining about this on a daily basis then it’s a problem. Despite having a closet that is bursting at the seams, if you keep repeating a certain roster of outfits that means that you need some new clothes.

No person should feel anything less than magical while looking at their wardrobe.

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

There are only so many ways one can mix and match to make an old outfit look new until eventually, it’s just you repeating clothes on an alarming basis. Once you get rid of all those extra clothes that you never wear, you will see the need to upgrade your wardrobe.

When you have new clothes in your closet, you actually start looking forward to dressing up. Shopping for new clothes means that dressing up is now less of a chore and more of an art project where you get to be as creative as you want!

4.Being labeled as a fashion disaster

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

Some of us embrace our inner divas less subtly than others. It’s okay for you to look extra once in a while.

However, a wardrobe that consists of nothing but extravagant clothes needs to be updated.

Sure, your leather mini with the feather boa may look fabulous for a girl’s night out but not so much for a casual hangout with your friends.

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

If you open your wardrobe and all you can see are glamorous pieces that are only worthy of red carpets, then it’s time to make a change. Same is the case with a wardrobe that consists of only casual clothing.

If you always find yourself underdressed even at the most formal events then you need to spice up your wardrobe. Organize your wardrobe and you’ll know for sure whether you need to spice up it up or tone it down.

There’s no reason you have to be the fashion disaster at every event you turn up to. With just a few changes in your wardrobe, you can change your whole look.

    5.Adapting to a new environment

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

For a professional, their whole wardrobe depends on the type of workplace they are going to be spending their time in.

While casual t-shirts and jeans may have been the appropriate office attire at your magazine startup, your colleagues at a multinational may not view this as something you could wear to work.

If you have recently made any life changes that place you in a new environment, then it’s important to make sure that your wardrobe matches the expectations of your new workplace. You don’t want to be the colleague that becomes the target of gossip and ridicule for their horrendous outfit choices!

5 Reasons Why You Might Need A New Wardrobe

Though it is important to wear what makes you feel good, it is equally as important to make sure that your clothing does not become a barrier in your path.

Your clothing should compliment you and become a point of pride for you instead of embarrassing you.

You don’t have to spend exuberant amounts of money in order to build the perfect wardrobe, there are many places that will let you build a collection of gorgeous and affordable clothing that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

    1. Amber Myers says

I rarely change my wardrobe. I don’t care about fashion trends. I go for what is comfortable for me. Granted, if something doesn’t fit right or looks really worn, I will replace it, but I have shirts going strong that I’ve had for 10 years.

      • Dalene Ekirapa says

Wow! Having a shirt for that long is just great! Anyway, it’s nice that comfy is your mantra; I think that that’s what we should always keep in mind even if we enjoy changing wardrobes as much or not, right?

    2. Melissa says

I have lost 25 pounds on a quest to get back to my marriage weight, so I have needed to get some new things. I haven’t bought a whole lot though, because I want to lose more.

    3. Krish says

A person’s wardrobe should be as per his / her taste and likes…style is always individual as one’s taste…There is nothing trendy or old fashioned as long as one can carry it well .
      Nice write-up .

    4. Natalia says

These are such great reasons to change one’s wardrobe … although sometimes I don’t need to have a reason to buy new clothes. I’m a teacher and I decided to be more elegant, I’ve got lots of new things to wear this season. Hope I won’t be a fashion disaster! 😀

    5. Laurie Gannon says

I’ve slowly been curating new items for my wardrobe. There are definitely some items that I am holding onto because I hope to fit into them someday. I’m not quite at the tragic stage yet but in another six months I might need to give myself a reality check.

    6. jena leigh says

i dont change my wardrobe much and always reuse the same apparel from even back in the days. i’m surprised the material still lasts! once in a blue moon, i do like to shop and find a cute outfit for date night tho =)

    7. Nessy says

I plan to buy a new set of clothes this coming December. I’m currently working on a balanced diet and I also work out almost daily. So far I’ve lost 3 kilos. So I’m hoping (fingers crossed) that I’ll be able to hit my target fitness by December that I need new clothes to fit my new body. 🙂

    8. mdaisi says

I don’t really think about fashion trends but reason number 1 is definitely a reason that I can relate to. I thought for the longest time that I would be able to fit into my 16 years old clothes – however, as I am tripling that age, I am noticing that newer clothes might be a good idea. Thanks for the reminder.

    9. Gena says

What a great post! I should definitely show it to my husband next time he makes a face expression saying “Why in the world do you need this???” hahaha
I am currently changing my wardrobe focusing on quality pieces rather than buying whatever is availible, so I don’t waste tons of money of things that I don’t wear in a couple of months.

      • Dalene Ekirapa says

Haha! Now that’s funny Gena. Please do so, to ensure that he won’t wonder why the hell you are always adjusting your closet. And yes, shopping for quality outfits is what we should always go for.

    10. Katherine Gamble says

Thank you for writing this post. I am not one to keep up with fashion trends, but I tend to gain and lose weight frequently so I am always readjusting for that reason mainly. Also, I always find it difficult to find something to wear to special occasions so I found myself recently shopping for impressive looks. But I mean, getting new stuff is fun in itself.

    11. Heather says

I totally need a new wardrobe. Not really for any of these reasons, but because I always buy clothing for my kids and never for myself.

    12. Wanda Lopez says

I agree with your tips. I am a huge believer of purchasing pieces that can be used multiple ways and are timeless. I do my best to search for sales, that way I don’t feel guilty when I need to purge an older piece and replace it with a more modern and fitted piece.

    13. LavandaMichelle says

What an amazing post! This really made me think. It can be hard for me to find clothes somedays which confuses me because I have more than enough clothing. Maybe I need a new wardrobe. Thanks or sharing! 🙂

    14. Rose Sahetapy says

The body changes are the most reason I get new wardrobes, but I do have some items that I keep more than 10 years. I agree with you vintage is great, but to fill the wardrobe only with the vintage clothes sound outdated.

    15. Blair Villanueva says

I remember had this complete 360 turn of my wardrobe when I reached my adult-style-feeling stage. I let go a lot of my outfits without regrets and store new investment pieces that last longer. I’m also keen on choosing the lasting fabrics.

      • Dalene Ekirapa says

Yeah! I’m getting into that stage too so I’m also updating my wardrobe too while telling go of others too. Glad we both go for quality pieces that surely last.

    16. Salman says

That was interesting but I wish I could have a better job after my graduation so that I can keep my wardrobe updated.

    17. Karla says

I try to change my wardrobe in a minimalist way. If I buy something new, I sell or donate some of my old clothes. As much as possible I try not to have too many clothes. I stick with the basic clothes.
