Should you find a signature accessory? Yes, you should!
Aside from their other numerous accomplishments, certain women have and will go down in history as style icons. They are the likes of Audrey Hepburn, who almost instantaneously reminds us of the little black dress.
Then there’s Jackie O and her signature over-sized sunnies and Marilyn Monroe with her adorable and luscious locks.
Of course, there are present-day icons as well – Sarah Jessica Parker is known for her shoes (among other things), and Madonna will go down as a performer with the biggest power of transformation.
Each of these, and many other women used accessories as a weapon of a sort – a weapon that will elevate and define their style, making it distinguishable and different compared to everyone else’s.
That is the power of an accessory – no matter what you’re wearing, accessories have the power to make or break a look and tell the world who you are and not just as a fashionista, but as a person as well.
A well-accessorized woman is perceived as one who’s ‘got all her ducks in a row’ and one that pays attention to details, in both fashion and life.
So, it definitely is vital to find those little things that will make you instantly recognizable, so follow these simple rules to find your signature accessory and you are bound to get there!

4 Rules To Find Your Signature Accessory
1. Invest wisely
You most definitely can achieve that chic, polished and complete look without breaking the bank, you just need to be smart about your purchases.
For instance, there are certain items that look incredibly pricey but are actually fairly affordable – it’s all about choosing colors and fabrics that have an expensive look and feel to them.
Now, trends may come and go, and you will soon abandon culottes and move on to the next ‘it’ thing, which is precisely why it’s vital to be smart when it comes to garments, (unless they’re timeless) and invest in great accessories that will last you for years to come.
Two great handbags are better than ten cheap ones, so whichever accessory your heart leans towards to, splurge on that item.
2.Listen to your heart
When you look at yourself in the mirror each morning while finishing your look, what do you feel is missing?
Is it a pair of statement earrings, a pearl necklace, a great bag, or perhaps an amazing hat that makes the entire look pop?
Your inner fashionista knows best, so listen to that voice, that gut feeling and it will tell you what your signature accessory is.
We don’t give that inner voice enough credit; yes, there is a plethora of fashion magazines that will tell you what the ‘must-have’ accessories of any given year and season are, but deep down, it’s all about what you need to feel complete.
3.Listen to compliments
Perhaps you’ve already found your signature accessory without even realizing it.
If people are constantly complimenting you on your selection of belts and how you perfectly combine them with everything from button-downs and dresses to jeans and cute and chic skirts and shorts, chances are, you’ve already found at least one of your signatures – a knack for great belts and ingenious ways of incorporating them into your outfit.
Perhaps you get a gasp and a look of admiration every time you appear somewhere with a great bag and that’s a clear sign that the ‘bag route’ is the one you should pursue.
You’re obviously already getting it right because if the compliments keep rolling in that means that your inner voice is definitely on to something.
4.Start from the beginning
Just in case you’ve never paid much attention to accessories and have thus far rocked simple looks that are devoid of any of these paramount additions, it’s time to start scouting.
Visit a great shoe store and see if that sparks anything in you. Do the same with bags, hats, belts, even jewelry stores and try everything out.
Perhaps once you’re in the store, standing in your regular outfit, you will instantly recognize that something that’s been missing.
If all else fails and you end up not seeing yourself as either a shoe or a bag addict, you can always turn to great eyewear.
Everyone needs sunglasses, so start with one pair and then work your way up to a full-blown collection. The important thing about a signature accessory is that you either have to own plenty of them or wear them frequently for them to become ‘so you’, so this is the penultimate lesson you should never let slip your mind.
The ultimate and bonus lesson is makeup. In this day and age, when there are so many Instagram makeup artists, and everyone (aside from a few rare exceptions) ends up looking the same, it’s vital that you find a makeup look that suits your skin color, the shape of your eyes and one that simply emphasizes your best features.
Don’t be ‘the eyeliner girl’ if it simply doesn’t work for you. You can be the ‘red lip’ girl if that’s something you gravitate towards. The point is – find the colors and techniques that do your gorgeous face justice and stick with them.
Ladies, use these four tips find your perfect signature accessory and you’ll feel complete!
Happy Accessorizing Ladies!

My signature accessory is definately my nude pink sunglasses. They just seem to go with everything and I feel so much more confident in them.
Now I think I should wear sunglasses more. As much as I love wearing them for photoshoots, I’ve literally never considered wearing them normally! (Kinda crazy lol!)
I’ll add them to my accessory list now!
Xoxo!
Such a great post, I am not actually sure what my signature accessory is probably one of my many handbags x
I wasn’t as keen either about my signature accessories until Amy shared the article and I just realized that earrings and necklaces are mine. Perhaps handbags are yours Samantha!
Hugs!
A pair of my cousins visited me 10 years ago and one was aghast that I wore mostly black and had no significant color in my wardrobe. She advised me to add colorful handbags and shoes but in my experience the best quality ones are usually black, navy or brown leather so I have stuck with those color shoes. I have discovered however, that I have a thing for sunglasses and colorful handbags.
I understand Razena; people tend to wonder about all-black-everything yet I find it too sleek too. Even so, it’s nice to see that you got your signatures lol!
These are some really good and inspirational thoughts. You are absolutely right that accessories do not get out of fashion as quickly as garments – and you can use them for years. And also the tip to listen to compliments is a really good one – it helps a lot when people respond to your appearance.
I can totally relate Renata; compliments surely give us a hand in finding our signature accessories…which hardly get out of style as you agree.

Well,I can definitely relate Karla! That just happens when one has their signature piece…same applies for accessories.

Great Blog to tell about your signature style. Even I have my signature style, I call it simplicity. But I loved how you talked about Sunglasses can be your accessory and help you out. I don’t think I can pull that off even in Men’s Section, I think my style signature would be simple only wearing T-Shirt and Jeans. But I am glad you are looking great in those styles.
Thank you Aditya; I’m glad you enjoyed the read. I also love simplicity but an inch of accessories always liven up my looks.
Hugs!
I am so bad at investing in accessories as I never think that they’re worth it. But they can make an outfit so much more than an item of clothing can x
Ohhh..too bad…I think you should give them a try and you’ll love them. Mind you, I can’t do without them!
Hugs!

Yes, accessories bring the look to another level. Eyewear and bag are two favorite accessories of mine, but never cross in my mind a signature accessory. It’s a good idea of you, and it’s a smart way to narrow dow, which accessory we should focus on.
It’s definitely good to realize one’s signature accessories; you love bags and eye wear so that might be.
Hugs!
I will have to show this to my daughter. She would have to enjoy this as she has an interest in fashion. She would love it.
She will David; I’ll appreciate the share.
